Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Norway was established in 1926. Until The Embassy was opened in 1946, the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm was accredited to Norway. The Embassy operated in the Residence building, which was bought in 1963, for a long period. In 1978, today’s Chancellery building was bought. Office of the Commercial Counsellor of Turkey, which was opened in 1985, closed in 1999 and reopened in April, 2012. Office of the Military Attachéof the Republic of Turkey was closed in 1994 and reopened in 2005.
The Offices of the Counsellors for, Tourism and Promotion, Education and Religion operating under the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm are accredited to Norway. (www.stokholm.be.mfa.gov.tr). In addition, the Office of the Counsellor for Security Affairs, operating under the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen, is also accredited to Norway. The Turkish Embassy in Oslo is also accredited to Iceland and there is a Honorary Consulate General in Reykjavik.
